| Pepper Steakhouse and Bistro, Great World City |
Owner Bill Graham of The Quayside Group – The Pump Room, Quayside Seafood, Peony-jade – loves his beef so much so that he’s now set up a casual bistro to offer his customers a steak to suit every taste preference. The Pump Room at Great World City has now been shrunk to an al fresco bar, and its main space has been replaced with Pepper Steakhouse and Bistro, which is highly accessible to residents and office workers in the area.
The soft launch dinner menu offers five types of steak, from the New Zealand Firstlight grass-fed Wagyu (from $49 for 200g sirloin), to Australian Harvey grain-fed prime beef (from $33 for 200g sirloin). Those who appeciate leaner and more beefier grass-fed varieties can also go for the New Zealand Savannah Black Angus, with its fine marbling – the beef starts from $32 for 200g sirloin, to $59 for a 500g Chateaubriand fillet. The friendly bistro has thrown in unlimited French fries with all steak orders, and a choice of four pepper sauces, as well as the regular Bernaise, red wine, and mushroom.
Non meat eaters will also find salads, as well as starters like the crispy blue swimmer crab cake or pastas like the truffled tagliatelle, which is ample for a quick lunch or pre-movie bite. Of course, The Pump Room’s award-winning beers go well with the cuisine, or opt for one of a pretty large selection of mainly new world wines by the glass.
