| New Year Treats from Swissôtel Merchant Court |
Chinese New Year is not just about the reunions and gatherings – it’s also all about the food. From 9 to 29 Jan, Swissôtel Merchant Court is offering a range of treats to bring bountiful ‘luck’ for Chinese New Year, including the Japanese-inspired Prosperity Six Treasures salmon Yu Sheng, made with raw salmon, scallops, jellyfish wakame with tobiko and wasabi rice, or try the Six Treasures Abalone Yu Sheng topped with sliced abalone. Another traditional dish includes the Cantonese Poon Choy (or literally, pot of luck), also available for takeaway.
Aside from the traditional yu sheng, there are also all the snacks and tidbits to indulge in during this festive time. Take home a whole selection of seasonal treats, both sweet and savoury, such as the koi fish nian gao ($22), almond crisps ($28), mini peanut puffs ($26) , pineapple shortcake ($18 for six pieces, $28 for 10 pieces), shrimp rolls ($26), barbequed pork gold coins ($38) and Peranakan-style kueh lapis ($30 for 500g, and $32 for 500g for the prune version).
Another delightful treat is the light and tangy mandarin mousse cake ($48 for 1kg), made with mandarin orange mousse and mandarin peel. Whether you’re serving it at home, or bringing it along for another gathering, this is sure to impress.
All the new year goodies are available at the Prosperity House, Lobby Level from 9 – 29 Jan, 12pm to 9.30pm.
